HandCue ("the Service") respects your privacy, keeps the information it collects to a minimum, and explains its handling transparently. This policy applies equally to the HandCue Android app and the HandCue web version.
1. Information We Collect and Process
The information the Service handles falls into three categories.
(1) Camera and hand-recognition data — processed on-device only (no external transmission)
The Service uses the camera to recognize hand gestures.
Camera frames and the recognized hand coordinates are processed in real time entirely on your device (app) or within your browser using MediaPipe technology.
This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server.
This data is not stored. It is processed in real time and immediately discarded.
(2) Game data stored on your device — no external transmission
For gameplay, the Service stores the following on your device:
Game records
Best clear time
Unlocked levels
Left/right (hand) calibration setting
Sound setting
How it is stored:
Android app: app-internal storage (DataStore)
Web: your browser's localStorage (using the handcue. prefix)
This information is not personally identifying and is never transmitted to any server. It disappears when you uninstall the app or clear your browser data.
(3) Advertising information — transmitted externally (e.g. to Google)
The Service displays ads to support its operation, and in this process some information is transmitted to the ad provider.
Android app: A Google AdMob banner ad is shown on the start screen. To serve ads, the AdMob SDK transmits the advertising identifier (AAID), device information, and coarse information to Google.
Web: The web version also displays ads, and similar information may be passed to the ad provider.
2. Purposes of Use
Camera and hand-recognition data: to operate the game's hand-gesture recognition (on-device real-time processing only).
Device-stored game data: to keep game records, record updates, progress (unlocks), and user settings.
Advertising information: to display ads and, where you have consented, serve personalized ads, and to cover the cost of operating the Service.
3. Third-Party Disclosure and International Transfer
The Service transmits advertising information to Google (AdMob / advertising services) to display ads.
Because Google is a global operator, this information may be processed on servers located outside your country (international transfer).
The Service does not provide or sell camera/hand-recognition data or device-stored game data to any third party.
4. Retention Period
Camera and hand-recognition data: not retained (processed in real time, then immediately discarded).
Device-stored game data: retained on your device until you delete it yourself. It disappears when the app is uninstalled or browser data is cleared.
Advertising information: subject to the retention policy of the ad provider (e.g. Google).
5. Your Rights and How to Delete Data
Deleting device-stored game data
Android: uninstalling the app deletes all game data with it.
Web: clear the site data (storage) in your browser.
Opting out of ad personalization / withdrawing consent
Android: in your device settings under Ads, you can turn off ad personalization or reset your advertising identifier.
EEA, UK, and similar regions: through the Service's ad consent prompt (UMP), you can change your personalized / non-personalized ad choice or withdraw consent.
6. Children
The Service is intended for general users and is not primarily designed for children (in particular, those under 13). The Service does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Advertising and Consent (UMP)
The Service uses Google AdMob's consent management tool (User Messaging Platform, UMP) to request consent for personalized / non-personalized ads from users in regions where consent is required, such as the EEA and the UK.
Users may refuse consent or, having consented, withdraw it at any time.
8. Permissions (Android)
The Service uses the following permissions for the purposes described:
Camera (CAMERA): hand-gesture recognition (on-device real-time processing only).
Internet (INTERNET) / Network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): ad requests and connectivity checks.
Advertising ID (AD_ID): use of the advertising identifier to serve ads.

If this policy changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
